U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, an openly LGBTQ Cabinet member, slammed Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.), who is running for president, for his anti-LGBTQ campaign ad targeting his presumptive GOP rival, former President Donald Trump.
The ad was released June 30 by DeSantis War Room, the candidate’s official rapid response Twitter account. It was denounced by even gay and trans conservatives for cheering the Florida governor’s anti-LGBTQ record.
To wrap up “Pride Month,” let’s hear from the politician who did more than any other Republican to celebrate it…

Appearing on CNN’s State of the Union program with Dana Bash on Sunday, Buttigieg said, “I’m gonna leave aside the strangeness of trying to prove your manhood by putting up a video that splices images of you in between oiled up shirtless bodybuilders.”
Addressing DeSantis, the transportation secretary asked, “who are you trying to help? Who are you trying to make better off and what public policy problems do you get up in the morning thinking about how to solve?”
Buttigieg added, “I just don’t understand the mentality of somebody who gets up in the morning, thinking that he’s going to prove his worth by competing over who can make life hardest for a hard hit community that is already so vulnerable in America.”
